ABOUT
Truth Patterns was founded by Oleg Skuja in 2016 after his travels in Southeast Asia, Central- and South-America. In the beginning it was more of an attempt to meditate through drawing and coloring simple patterns and tiny mandalas. Oleg found many lessons hidden in his own work including peace and contentment; it became a passion. A lot of the work reflects inner and outer journeys of the author including some encounters with plant medicines. Through meditation a certain energetic value is channeled and projected on the paper. Some of the patterns are inspired by our outside world. Oleg is using regular pencil, ruler and compass to sketch the beginning piece and create the structure and shape of the painting. Then, watercolors and acrylics are used for coloring and shading. Every detail in Oleg’s paintings is done by hand.
Truth Patterns are now printed and sold on stickers, fine art cotton paper, t-shirts, tote bags, hoodies etc. The main focus of Truth Pattern’s merchandise is quality and sustainability.
ARTIST BIO
Oleg was born in Estonia and spent his childhood in a small town by the sea. He grew up swimming in the chilly Baltic Sea, foraging wild mushrooms, helping his grandparents in the garden and developing a love of basketball. After persistent injuries, Oleg resigned from basketball academy and moved to the capital city of Tallinn where he became involved in many music, art, literature and cultural projects that inspired him to seek freedom and find out more about himself and the world around him.Oleg has since done a great deal of traveling. He spent 2 years in Australia, exploring the eclectic terrain and working on various tropical fruit farms. His love for creating simple mandalas began when he hitchhiked and bussed from Mexico throughout Central America. He eventually made his way to Peru where he spent time in both the mountains and the jungle working with a medicine man in an indigenous community and experiencing the effects and growth of local plant medicines; he has visited and worked in Peru three times since. These experiences have had a profound effect on Oleg’s personal spiritual growth and in turn have manifested into the physical mandalas you can see here today.
After returning home, Oleg met his spiritual partner Melissa. They married in the summer of 2018 on a small island in Estonia. They have a son Oliver and a daughter Mila and currently live in Vermont, USA. Melissa uses her business background to bring structure and marketing strategies to Truth Patterns. She also provides content writing on our suppliers that you can find on our blog and social media channels. In her past time she enjoys reading, gardening, yoga, cooking and creating original embroidery pieces from Oleg’s patterns. As a family, they are continuously and consciously sharing art and passion to grow their small business.
